Come to our iftar meal at Bay20

Papier mache heart made at a Memorial Commission drop-in

The Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission would like to invite bereaved and survivor families and local residents to join a complimentary iftar.

Come and eat with us and hear about our journey to a permanent memorial to the Grenfell tragedy.

Iftar is the traditional meal at sunset during Ramadan, when families and friends come together to celebrate by sharing food and good wishes.

Co-chairs of the Memorial Commission, Thelma Stober and Michael Lockwood, will be hosting the iftar with some of the Memorial Commission’s community representatives. Before the iftar, there will be a short prayer to give thanks for our food and a minute’s silence to remember our loved ones.

There will also be an opportunity to speak to your community representatives about their work and the upcoming report in May.

We would like to thank Khans Restaurant for generously providing the food for the iftar, Al-Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre for leading the prayer, and Bay20 and the Westway Trust for hosting.

Everybody in our community across all faiths and beliefs is invited to join us. Please bring the whole family and anyone else who might want to join. We hope to see you there.

When:

  • Monday 25 April, 7.30pm to 9pm:  bereaved families and former residents of Grenfell Tower and Grenfell Walk

  • Tuesday 26 April, 7.30pm to 9pm: local residents
