We have today accepted his resignation. Designing the future memorial The Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission has started the process to appoint a design brief writer and competition manager. Come to our drop-in on 12 November Everyone is welcome to our next drop-in on Saturday 12 November. There will be refreshments and arts and crafts activities. You can meet and speak to some of your community representatives and our design adviser, and pick up a copy of our report. Questionnaire about a future memorial We would now like to hear how bereaved families, survivors and local residents think a future memorial should be owned, how it should be looked after, and whether parts of Grenfell Tower and items from the site should be included in the future memorial. Remembering Grenfell: our journey so far – audio version We have produced an audio version of our first report which we published in May 2022. The full report has been divided into seven episodes and is read by some of the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission community representatives. Visit to Manchester’s Glade of Light In September 2022, a group of the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission community representatives, visited the Glade of Light memorial for the victims of the of the 22 May 2017 terrorist attack at Manchester Arena. It honours the 22 people whose lives were taken, as well as remembering everyone who was left injured or affected. Postponed to 8 October: drop-in at Hope Gardens Following the passing of Her Majesty The Queen, Elizabeth II, we have cancelled our Saturday 17 September drop-in. The next Memorial Commission drop-in will now go ahead on Saturday 8 October between 12pm and 3pm at Hope Gardens, 2 Maxilla Walk W10 6NQ. A commemorative story The latest addition to the books at North Kensington Library is a fairy tale written to honour the lives of a young couple who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower tragedy. Actor and local resident, Tim Downie, has recorded a reading of the story. You can also read it in either Italian or English at the library. 'Remembering Grenfell: our journey so far' Our first report, published 16 May, outlines the ideas gathered so far for what a future memorial could look like. This is based on what we've heard from those bereaved by and who survived the tragedy, residents of the Lancaster West Estate that surrounds the Tower, and local North Kensington residents.
